OBSCURED FISH
Oil on canvas | 165 × 86 cm
“Hang loose, baby.”
In Obscured Fish, Cavilla draws a broad fish through a layered field of blue-grey and green, its golden outline intermittently dissolving into the surrounding texture. Orange and ochre passages glow across its body beneath broken vertical marks that suggest a veil of water. The small, clear eye anchors a form that remains both recognisable and partially concealed, suspended between the surface of the painting and its imagined depths.
