Born in Toronto of Gibraltarian parents, Paul Cavilla is truly a modern-day Renaissance man. From an early age, his life has been steeped in creativity, invention, and an insatiable curiosity for both the outer world and the inner world. Surrounding him with music, philosophy, theology, literature, art, and the dynamic process of designing and building, Paul’s father was a profound influence in his life, shaping his multidisciplinary talents and setting him on course to becoming a polymath.

By the age of 10, Paul was already constructing elaborate mechanisms, including a small pinball machine that was fully functional. His childhood was filled with the dismantling and reassembling of gadgets, tinkering, drawing, building, and the endless pursuit of discovery. But it wasn’t just the mechanical and visual arts that drew Paul’s attention. Music was a constant presence in his life as well, and he was exposed to a wide variety of genres from classical and opera, to jazz, rock, and pop. Paul was exploring the realms of sound and expression from an early age, and soon made good friends with a guitar that lived in their home.

Although he was a natural creator, Paul struggled to find his place in conventional school settings. As a boy, he gravitated towards solitary activities, often losing himself in imaginary worlds, fueled by a passion for Dungeons & Dragons and fantasy literature. High school was a period of feeling like an outcast, but it also solidified his bond with a close group of friends who shared his interests in fantasy, comedy, music, and invention.

Pursuing his passion for art, Paul attended the prestigious Ontario College of Art, specializing in communication and design. A transformative year spent studying fine art in Florence awoke in him a love for travel, and an unquenchable thirst for history, culture, and the learning of languages. His first year abroad had ignited a fire of adventure in him that would take him on a lifelong journey across Europe, Central and South America, and beyond. In the years that followed, Paul produced a wide range of artistic endeavors, from large-scale murals to his own expressive paintings, mirroring the emotional intensity of his life’s twists and turns.

During part of this period, Paul moved around quite a bit, settling at various times in Toronto, Marbella, Montreal, Ibiza, Halifax, Barcelona, Aix-en-Provence, Puerto Plata, and Medellin. His artistic expression soon expanded beyond painting to include music, writing, videography, graphic design and sculpture. He also spent years exploring the inner workings of the human mind, often channeling his ideas through a process that felt less like creation and more like discovery.

It was this same process that led Paul to begin writing what would eventually become Ascender’s Prophecy. Drawing from years of study in science, spirituality, and metaphysical philosophy, Paul sought to weave a unifying theory that could answer life’s most profound questions. His early attempts included The Compostela Cube, which laid the foundation for Ascender’s Prophecy, a novel that merges his deep interest in science and mysticism with his curiosity about spiritual evolution and the human condition. As a professional visual artist, musician, and writer, Paul’s work is a testament to his belief in constant growth and creative evolution. Whether he is painting, composing music, or constructing a narrative, Paul approaches each project with the same curiosity and commitment to discovery that has guided him since childhood. Now working and residing in a Spanish studio with views overlooking Gibraltar and the North African coast, Paul continues to explore the outer world while simultaneously delving deeper into the inner realms of consciousness.
