“What’s real? What’s a dream?”
In Dreaming Woman, Cavilla folds a resting figure into a close arrangement of rounded limbs, her tilted head and closed eyes suggesting a retreat into sleep. Loose, searching lines trace the body, while curling strands of red hair spread through the warm surrounding colour. Pale passages across the skin give the figure a soft luminosity. The compressed space and gently distorted anatomy lend the image an uncertain, dreamlike intimacy, echoing the question posed by its accompanying words.
