In Indi with Duck, Cavilla portrays a reclining dog nestled among patterned cushions. A small yellow stuffed animal rests between his front legs, possessed of a halo of gold leaf. Warm ochres, rusts and reds bring the animal and his surroundings into close harmony, with green and violet accents breaking through the layered surface. Indi’s raised gaze and relaxed posture give the portrait an affectionate intimacy, while the bright duck provides its gently playful focus.
