En El hombre de la cicatriz, Cavilla places a solitary figure in a long vermilion coat beneath a pale, clouded sky. Dark fastenings trace a wound that continues upward across the face, connecting the garment to the painting’s title. A broad-brimmed hat and a closed umbrella held diagonally across the body give the figure a formal, almost theatrical bearing. Small flowers soften the surrounding green field while a clearing sky lends an optimistic counterpoint to the healing wound.
